[Defining the Story]

Challenge

Based on user feedback we discovered that our previous design was not converting higher end customers. The new challenge became figuring out how to attract larger scale companies.

Solution

We redesigned the marketing homepage in an effort to attract a higher level of clientele. With the guidance of the head of marketing and his research and knowledge of the customer we adapted our design to showcase the talent and qualifications of Bullpen freelancers.

Brainstorming

At the heart of our brainstorm and sketching sessions we focused on how to tell the Bullpen story through the homepage.

 
 

[Establishing the Brand]

My design colleague and I first had to finalize the branding for Bullpen before we could make hi-fidelity prototypes for the homepage. This included color, typography, buttons, and icons. We carefully considered how to convey the image of Bullpen to attract real estate development professionals.

 
 

[Research]

Competitor research

We researched a great deal of competitor sites to see how they told their story and examined how they showcased their freelancers’ talent.

 
 

[Designing the Story Layout]

Wireframing

Working with my design colleague, we began developing the Bullpen story and image. Keeping in mind we were designing for business professionals, we created many iterations of layout combinations, content, and icons.

 
 

[High Fidelity Deliverables]

We moved the “Trusted by” company logos to the top, right below the hero image, because the head of sales informed us that building trust with the client is the most important goal.

 

I designed cards with icons to clearly convey how Bullpen can help a company find the skills they need and ways that Bullpen will make employers’ lives easier.

 

This section was designed to showcase the type of talent and experience that a company will have access to if they sign up with Bullpen.

 

The last section of the homepage prominently highlights the skills that can be found in the Bullpen freelancer pool. I also created icons that show the more impressive qualifications and experience of the freelancers.
